What material is the hook made out of, plastic or metal?
If it's plastic, it will get broken. Often. If it's metal and it gets bent/dented in, you might get stuck to your pad. Eventually bending/unbending would cause the metal to break... Rust... Etc.. I don't mean to be cynical but it seems like this would just add costs. Toe ties are pretty simple.
It is metal. My son had them 2 years ago, and they lasted all season. The only thing that ever broke was the plastic zip tie on the skate. I bought some heavy duty ones at a hardware store. No denting or breaking of the hook. Although removing one of the hooks to sell them was a bear due to the screw rusting.
