PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The CCM Extreme Flex Shield E1.9 chest and arm protector is brand new for 2016, and it is built specifically with today's Senior Pro goalie in mind.  It is a more mobile unit than the CCM Premier line of chest guards and has a slightly more narrow width profile.  Goalies who are willing to sacrifice a slight bit of net coverage to achieve a greater range of motion will gravitate towards the Shield E1.9, as it is one of the most mobile, protective Sr. Pro units that CCM has ever built.

The thick, HD/PE foam shoulder wings have a slightly more narrow design than the Premier line, though the shoulder joint, upper chest & belly are full covered for excellent protection.  In keeping with the premier line, the top of the wings have separate wing and chest adjustment tabs that allow the goalie to both customized the height and horizontal position of the floaters, as well as the height of the belly pad on the goalie's torso.  The sternum guard is made of 3D molded HD foam for great protection to this sensitve area, and anatomical HD / PE foam blocks provide excellent belly protection.  A single, compression molded HD foam shoulder cap provides excellent protection while also allowing for a full range of motion.

The arms are made of squared-off blocks of compression molded HD / PE foam blocks for max coverage and predictable rebounds.  A large, 3-inch wide single elastic strap keeps the arms in place and also allows for up to nearly 2" of length adjustability for a custom fit.  An independent adjustable elbow protector provides some of the best protection in the business.

The rib protection is made of low density foams and does a great job of extending the coverage higher and deeper than CCM chest guards of the past have done.  Finally, dual adjustment straps around the mid & lower back help customize the fit of the unit to the goalie's torso.

RATINGS & REVIEWS

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to move in Bought the E1.9 Chest & Arm gear nearly two months ago, and have already broken it in. It is extremely bulky and hard to move around in, even with everything tightened. It is also hard to tighten the latches under the arms. and makes it really bulky and immobile around the shoulder area; creates a difficult situation when reacting to a shot. Also, and this is IMPORTANT: the giant latches that go from chest to shoulder (the ones in bright red) get extremely annoying and make it impossible to move your helmet around in them, because they are raised to high up and are built to be stiff. This creates an incredibly difficult and tough situation where you can't move your helmet or eyes to see a shot behind you or to the far left/right. The only good thing is the overall toughness of the chest gear. It great for stopping pucks, I really haven't had any stingers or such when getting in front of strong shots, just not good when it comes second to moving around in it (reacting to a shot, or getting in front of a rebound). I would not recommend this chest gear for a fast and reactive goalie who goes to the butterfly a lot. Would much rather recommend Warrior or Vaughn chest gear.
