PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Sub Zero Pro III Leg Pads are another benchmark in Brian’s legendary history of producing gear that goalies actually want to wear. Focused on mobility, protection, and ergonomics the SZ3 pads are impressing a lot of people. Starting with their first 90 degree boot, amplified by their familiar Hyper-Flex 4 technology, which work in unison to provide a snug contact point without limiting mobility.  Instead of the 2-3-2 break on the original, the standard SubZero Pro 2 features a 4-3-1 set up, with the new, softest option #4 flex at the boot, a #2 flex break, including on the outer roll at the knee, and a stiff #1 flex break above the knee. The Sub Zero III also features a return to its roots of sorts, with a modified S shape that is intended to combine the things goalies loved about the contours of the SZ1 and SZ2.

Naturally the pads feature the return of Brian’s trademark Smart Strap to ensure getting dressed is the easiest part of your night at the rink. The efficiency extends to the overall construction of the pad, with strategic seams, and higher grade foams, resulting in less resistance, a lighter pad, and ultimately greatly increased mobility. They finish the pad off by reinforcing key areas with their new Primo Synthetic Wrap- which offers greater durability and glide than their previous Jen-pro material. Brian's continues to innovate and revolutionize the art of building the goalie pad!

SIZE CHART

BRIAN'S Goal Pad Custom Sizing Guide - SENIOR LEG PADS
Ankle to Knee Thigh Rise Skate Size Stock Pad Size
17" 11" 8 32 + 1"
17.5" 11" 9 33 + 1"
18" 11" 10 34 + 1"
18" 12" 10 35 + 1"
19" 12" 10 36 + 1"
19" 13" 10 37 + 1"
20" 13" 10 38 + 1"

The Key factor is the overall length. The length can be divided into three sections:

A.The boot

B.Instep to knee

C.Knee to top or thigh rise

The proper length of the goal pad boot is determined by the goalie's skate size. The next key area is the instep to knee that determines the shin length. Finally, the knee to top or thigh rise is a personal measurement depending on how much pant and pad overlap the goaltender prefers. A general rule is 7" to 8".

A.Skates size: provide the skate size for proper boot fit.

B.Instep to knee: measure from instep to the front center of kneecap while leg is in slightly bent position.

C. Thigh rise: measure from front center of kneecap up the thigh to desire height.

A + B + C = Estimated size of pad

If fitted properly, the goalie's knee should rest directly behind the center knee roll with the pad securely attached to the goal skate and properly strapped on the goaltender's leg. Generally, this will ensure that the pad breaks (bends) at the knee/shin and ankle as designed for optimal performance.

PRODUCT Q & A

Hi! I'm now using ccm eflex 860 in 35+3. They have settled quite a bit over a season and i'm now landing at the top of the knee landing.. With my A-T-K at 18,5, 6'2 feet. Would you recommend 35+2?

Asked by: Gainzz
Yeah, A 35+2 sounds pretty close. Your best bet is to obviously try on the pads.

I was told that the SZ3 pads run a little tall. Based on your Size chart i would order at 36+1, as my ATK is 19, but i was told by "another" store rep that i would be a 35+1 because of how tall these pads sit. Is this the case?

Asked by: corpse_grinder 33
Yes, the thigh rise on the Brians is a bit more tall than other manufactures.

Can the nylon boot strap be tightened? In the video the boot strap doesn't look look tight. I know it's nylon now, so I'm not sure whether I would be able make this strap tight enough.

Asked by: 9lindythetendy8
Yes, you can adjust slack of the boot strap.

With prices dropping on subzero 2 is it worth it coughing up extra money for the subzero 3's?

Asked by: Jackie27
There are many great new features that the Sub Zero III offers that the Sub Zero II does not. If those features seem to make a difference in your game, then I would recommend the Sub Zero III.

Asked by: Ells
