CCM Premier Pro Senior Goalie Leg Pads
Mobility and Fit
The revolutionary pad that featured the first injection molded foam core gets a new face-lift in 2016 and makes it the lightest Premier Pad since its inception with Reebok. The new thinner profile reduces weight and allows for a deeper, more comprehensive fit, while the molded core tech ensures it stays snug throughout the channel. The new profile also changes the way you land in the knee stack, enabling a deeper stance and minimizing interference with your pants. This allows the pads to sit flush on the ice and seals holes as you're sliding post to post. More weight reduction in the leg channel and a revamped single knee and calf strap optimize leg rotation make transitioning into the butterfly and reverse VH stance a breeze, closing down that 5-Hole better than ever before.
Protection and Durability
The high density foams that allowed for the improved profile are also a notable improvement in their own right, and are engineered to improve the center of mass and reduce weight in key areas in order to maximize the pad's performance. The pads also feature a new strapping system thanks to CCM's work with the University of Western Ontario, replacing a variety of leather straps with Velcro enclosures to minimize weight. However, the improved Pro Strap System under the knee and above the calf is built with high end pro leather to ensure it lasts for the long haul, and holds as snug as possible over the life of the pad.
CCM utilizes a "Floor to Knee" fit guide to determine the proper leg pad size to meet your needs. To determine your "Floor to Knee" measurement, measure the distance from the floor (in bare feet) to the middle of the knee cap, straight up, knees slightly bent. Find this measurement in the chart below, then look at the number above it to find your pad size.
If fitted properly, the goalie's knee should rest in the center of the knee cradle with the pad securely attached to the goal skate and properly strapped on the goaltender's leg. Generally, this will ensure that the pad breaks (bends) at the knee/shin and ankle as designed for optimal performance.
